The ultimate goal of the Department of Food Science & Technology is the training of scientists who will both contribute to the development of quality food, with high nutritional value, attractiveness and safety for consumers and will be able to occupy high-ranking jobs in Greece and abroad.

To achieve the above objectives, a special 5-year study programme was designed which in the future is expected to lead to the award of the title of Integrated Master (Level 7) to its graduates, taking into account the most modern educational requirements internationally, and adopting modern and innovative practices in both the theoretical and laboratory training of its students. The purpose of this 5-year programme is to offer students comprehensive and interdisciplinary knowledge through interaction with other sciences such as chemistry, microbiology, food production and processing, but also entrepreneurship, in the context of the connection between the University and productive entities.

The departmental curriculum is structured in such a way that in the first semesters the student receives the basic knowledge that he/she will need for the understanding of the discipline and specialization that will follow in the course of his/her education. Thus, until the 5th semester, the departmental curriculum consists of compulsory courses. In the 6th semester and up to the 9th semester, a number of elective courses are available, while the 10th semester is dedicated to the preparation of the dissertation.

Each lesson corresponds to a number of credits (ECTS), the total of which in each semester should be exactly 30. The following is a detailed presentation of the Curriculum for the academic year 2019-2020.
