Study Guide

Object – Aim

The Inter-Institutional Postgraduate Studies Program in “Environmental Ethics and Green Development Management” aims to educate students to understand the concept of Ethics in relation to environmental and economic developments. Ethics, as one of the most important branches of philosophy, has been the focus of discussions from antiquity to the present day. Environmental Ethics has come of age and has been established both as a safety valve against the dizzying techno-scientific progress and environmental and economic evolution, as well as a meeting point and reconciliation of scientific progress and values. Environmental Ethics wanted to function as a filter in cases of control, but also as a means of defending the rights of individuals in the face of any bio-scientific technological research, posing ethical dilemmas. Its purpose is to provide ethical perspectives, without imposing them as absolute principles. Environmental Ethics does not seek to be a doctrine, but a form of methodical effort to discuss important ethical environmental problems. In the question of whether there can be a compromise both in the way of posing/expressing the questions and in the possible answers, the effort to understand the questions asked, to take into account the conditions of any ethical conflicts, and to develop a type of ethical response by each person, with regard to environmental issues and ways of dealing with them, is considered of particular importance. Therefore, each time, a determination and design of the boundaries of environmental ethics and social action must be carried out. This will result in a more effective management of the ethical, economic, labor and environmental issues that arise and the development of those strategic plans that will strengthen the dynamics of groups in businesses and organizations.

The aim of the Postgraduate Studies Program “Environmental Ethics and Green Development Management” is to offer a special approach to issues of natural resource management, economic analysis of the cost – benefit of intense industrial activity, as well as to issues of implementation and development of policies for the rational and economic use of resources. Students will become familiar with tools and methods of Economic and Environmental Science in the exercise of policy and addressing – solving environmental problems that have a strong economic impact on the economic circuit. They will understand that Environmental Ethics protects the freedom of actors to make ethical decisions, even if there is no agreement on criteria that can determine what is “ethical”. Environmental Ethics evaluates actions. They will acquire a comprehensive picture of the subject of Environmental Economics and will understand the methodologies related to the subject of Environmental Economics and Education. They will learn about the views of the scientific community regarding environmental issues and ways to address them through economic analyses (cost-benefit, etc.) as well as the terms Economic Development and Sustainable Development.
